Why we ask for valid HSU student/staff identification

In order to ensure computer availability in the interdisciplinary mediated instruction facilities, all users are required to show a valid HSU staff ID or student ID with current sticker. Our facilities are funded to support Humboldt State University students and staff for academic purposes.

In the past, people have used interdisciplinary mediated instruction facilities for many non-funded pursuits. These non-funded uses consume supplies, reduce available access time, and increase wear and tear on the facilities. Some of these non-funded uses include printing out advertisements, doing accounting for businesses, running a small business, and playing computer games. We primarily rely on self-enforcement to ensure these facilities are used for coursework, and not for personal purposes.

This policy is intended to ensure that HSU students and staff have access to computing resources, not to inconvenience people. Please help us maintain these facilities for your use. Bring your valid student or staff identification.
