Subject: Fall 05 Interdisciplinary Technology Facility
Changes & Faculty Orientation Invitation
The staff of Academic
Computing would like to invite you to preview the upgrades we have implemented
for the Fall 2005 Semester. One of the more notable changes will be the
addition of floppy drives to several labs.
While we still feel the floppy disk is technologically obsolete and
highly error prone, we have listened to faculty and student comments and are
adding floppy drives. Our recommendation
is still to encourage switching to USB flash drives and avoiding floppy and zip
diskettes, which have higher failure rates.
All Interdisciplinary
Technology Facilities will be available August 10th, 11th,
12th, 15th, and 16th for orientation and live
testing of your assignments and lab equipment. Please contact your Lab Manager
(see list below) to schedule testing time in any Interdisciplinary Technology
Facility. A staff member will meet you at the appointed time and location.
