Subject: Fall 2007 Interdisciplinary Computer Lab and
Smart Classroom Changes
The staff of Academic Computing and Smart Classrooms would like to give you a
preview of upgrades and changes being planned for Fall 2007 implementation. In
addition, there are a number of temporary changes that will affect the availability
of some facilities during the Fall term.
The new PC operating system, Vista, and eventually the Mac operating system,
Leopard, will undergo testing in preparation for distribution at a future date.
Once debugging has been completed, Vista will be available on one workstation
for testing purposes in GH218. However, neither Vista, nor Leopard are scheduled
for distribution during the 2007-2008 Academic Year.
Microsoft Office 2007 will be installed on the PCs for the Fall 2007 term. If
you would like to familiarize yourself with the changes in Office 2007, a test
station will be available in GH218 for that purpose. Brief introductory Office
2007 workshops will also be available early in the Fall. If you would like to
schedule a special session with a staff member in the FTSC, we would be more
than happy to accommodate you. Please call me at ext. 4207 to schedule. A tentative
list of Fall software updates and changes can be found at the following link; http://www.humboldt.edu/~ac/software.
Due to the remodel of Harry Griffith Hall, a number of labs and Smart Classrooms
will not be available during summer and fall terms. AC computing labs in Harry
Griffith Hall 105 and 229 will be closed for Summer and Fall. Smart Classrooms
in 203, 204, 225, 226, and 227 will also not be available.
We will continue to distribute updated information as these projects progress.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
