WHEREAS, The City of Arcata has been involved in a sister city relationship with the city of Camoapa, Nicaragua for twelve years; and

WHEREAS, Nicaragua established the Centro Universitario Regional de Camoapa (CURC) in Camoapa five years ago; and
 

WHEREAS, Humboldt State University promotes experiential learning and international opportunities for its students; and
 

WHEREAS, The establishment of a relationship with CURC would allow Humboldt State University and CURC to participate in student and faculty exchanges and internships; therefore, be it
 

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University urge the President of the University, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Student Affairs to explore establishing a relationship with the Centro Universitario Regional de Camoapa for the educational benefit of students at Humboldt State and at CURC.
