Resolution on the Amendment to the Charge of the Professional Leave Committee

WHEREAS, On April 28, 1998 the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University passed a resolution that revised the charge of the Professional Leave Committee as defined in Chapter VIII of the HSU Faculty Handbook; and
WHEREAS, On September 28, 1998 HSU President Alistair McCrone referred said resolution back to the Academic Senate for reconsideration based upon questions regarding its definition of quality, references to advocacy for faculty members and advisability of ranking and/or grouping candidates; therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommend adoption of the attached amendment to its April 28, 1998 revision to the Faculty Handbook regarding the charge of the Professional Leave Committee, and that said amended revision become effective in the 1999-2000 academic year.
The revised sentence of the attachment to the resolution reads:
. . . In this context, quality is defined as the potential of the sabbatical project to benefit the CSU or the profession through activities which include, but are not limited to, research, scholarly and creative activity, instructional improvement and faculty retraining. . . .
