Resolution Regarding Candidates' Statements in University and College Elections

WHEREAS, Voters in HSU elections currently are provided no information regarding the professional qualifications and accomplishments of the candidates running for university and college offices; and
 

WHEREAS, Relevant biographical information provided by candidates would assist HSU personnel in making informed election choices; therefore, be it
 

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommend that candidates in university and college elections be requested to submit a statement of 50 words or less that will include department affiliation and length of service; and may also include relevant university or college service, and other pertinent professional activities; and be it further
 

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommend that candidates' statements for university elections be submitted to the Academic Senate Office, and that such statements for college elections be submitted to the appropriate college dean or the university librarian; and be it further
 

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommend that candidates' statements for university and college elections be included in the sample ballot provided prior to the election; and be it further
 

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommend that this resolution take effect in the 1999-2000 academic year.
