Our mission is to help students explore, choose, advance and achieve their educational goals by providing accurate and timely information, and by supporting advising campus-wide.
We're here to help you explore Humboldt's great academic programs, offer advice on general education and all-university requirements and to assist you in building academic plans and semester schedules. In general, we're here to help you develop strategies for making excellent academic progress. Whether you are a newly admitted freshman, a student returning after an absence, or a nearly-graduated senior, you and your questions are welcome in the Advising Center.
Our staff is dedicated to advancing and supporting all campus-wide advising. These include activities ranging from participating in the student led Humboldt Orientation Program, offering advising workshops for faculty advisors and department coordinators, building and maintaining the advising website, attending department meetings, visiting classes, or coordinating with residence hall staff to offer schedule building sessions. If it's about promoting student success and you think we can help, let us know, and count us in!
The advising center is home to students who are undeclared and welcomes students who may have declared a major, but are considering a change or thinking about adding a minor or second major. We will help you plan how to advance towards your degree while you explore, and work with you on building a strategy for making the choice that's right for you.
We are also home to students who choose to pursue a degree with a major in Liberal Studies.
And, if you're interested in spending a semester or a year at one of 190 colleges and universities within the U.S., attend one of our NSE informational meetings to learn more.
