Lots of students begin their career at Humboldt as “undeclared,” and there are plenty who enter with one major, but graduate with a totally different major embossed on their diploma! It makes sense—doesn’t it? There are so many challenges that the first year of college brings-- new friends, new living arrangements, different climate, environment, and lifestyle. Added to this is the excitement and responsibility of greater independence. It's no wonder then that the whole array of academic programs HSU offers takes some time to explore.
So, if you’re not sure what you want to study or what career you’d like to pursue after graduation, it’s completely understandable. You are far from alone. Don’t waste energy or time worrying about it. Instead, come on in, and let us help you explore.
All undeclared majors will be assigned to an advisor in the Advising Center. We’ll work with you to select courses that will satisfy general education and all-university requirements while you get comfortable with your new surroundings and begin to open your eyes, minds, and hearts to all the possibilities of Humboldt’s outstanding academic programs. We’ll help you to clarify your personal goals, discover your values and interests, commit to the academic program that’s right for you, and establish patterns for college and career success.
Do you have a major, but think you may have committed prematurely? Not to worry—we’ll be happy to work with you too.
Your future awaits! Let's get started...
