Graphic design is at the heart of all the communication arts—this is true in print, film and on the web. Humboldt State’s Graphic Design program is dedicated to combining traditional studio art skills with the latest graphic design and computer illustration techniques. Advertising, animation, illustration, publishing, web design—graphic design skills open a variety of career options to you.
Tradition Meets Technology
Our introductory classes teach you the elements of design using both traditional materials and computers. Intermediate and advanced classes focus on computer training while encouraging you to use drawing, painting, or other traditional art to complement the electronic media. The result? As a graduate, you’ll possess an aptitude for both formal design and conceptual problem solving.
State-of-the Art Facilities
HSU has a twenty-four station Digital lab with
20" flat screen iMACS.
All iMACS are equipped with latest graphic design and movie editing software.
The lab also possesses four color printers, four scanners, and a share drive
so you can store your work. Open for student use beyond classes, including
weekends, the lab is an excellent and accessible space for you to create in.
