Printmaking Is About Communication
Printmaking is about communication and the dissemination of ideas, as much as it is about object making. The printmaking program at Humboldt State University offers beginning through advanced instruction in relief, lithography, intaglio, and silkscreen. We combine a structured grounding in print fundamentals, while exposing students to the wide variety of contemporary print media and mark-making possibilities of printmaking. The execution of works that combine a mastery of both aesthetic content with solid technique is our emphasis and goal for all print students.
A Perfect Place to Learn
Our print facilities occupy two rooms. We have space and equipment to work in stone lithography, plate and waterless lithography, intaglio, silkscreen and relief processes.
Printing Beyond HSU
Students graduating with an emphasis in printmaking may elect to pursue graduate studies, work as a printer for fine art or commercial printing houses, or develop independently as an artist.
