The facility also has an outstanding metal fabrication program with axy-acetylene, mig, tig and electric welding capability, a plasma arc cutter, and other metal working equipment.
The program emphasizes an object oriented approach. Despite an emphasis on metal, we accomodate all media including paper, plaster, cement, wood.
Art 109, BEGINNING SCULPTURE: covers composition, expressive use of materials, repetitions, line, and other basic contemporary sculpture issues, supplemental with slide presentations, critiques, and discussions about sculpture and three-dimentional form development.
Art 345, INTERMEDIATE: Introduces students to industrial techniques and approaches in order to facilitate permanence and conceptual development as applied through industrial methods.
Art 347, ADVANCED: takes advantage of the experiences learned in beginning and intermediate classes and emphasizes personal development in both conceptual and perceptual applications, and if so inclined the student has the use of one of the finest metal sculpture facilities in the state.
Art 346, FIGURE SCULPTURE: facilitates an academic approach of eye-hand coordination, clay modeling, body molds with an emphasis on proportion and gesture.
The Art Department sculpture facilities and program feature metal casting with ceramic shell, catalized sand, petro-band and standard investment processes, casting between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds of bronze and aluminum per year.
