Gordon Kirkland Memorial Run / Walk for Research

A 5-kilometer run/1-kilometer walk is open to all registrants of the 84th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Mammalogists to be held in Arcata 12-16 June 2004. The run/walk will be held on Tuesday morning June 15th in the Arcata Community Forest.

Proceeds from the Run/Walk for Research will go to the Future Mammalogists Fund of the American Society of Mammalogists. One prize will be awarded to the 1 st place overall winner. There will be prizes for the male and female race winners (40 and below and over 40 categories), and the male and female walk winners.

When:
Tuesday 15 June 2004, starting at 6:30 a.m. Registration for the event will also be possible at the registration desk on Saturday and Sunday, and at the race site at 6:00 a.m.

Where: The Arcata Community Forest. The Arcata Community Forest is adjacent to HSU and is comprised of 600- acres of old-growth and mature redwoods. The race course will be a challenging loop on forest access roads. The first 2.5 kilometers of the race route will include a hill with an estimated elevational change of over 160 meters and conclude with a fast downhill finish. The race start and finish will be in close proximity to the on campus housing facilities.
