The Blackboard learning management system (LMS) has been replaced by the Moodle LMS.
If you want a previous Blackboard course hosted in Moodle for the Fall 07 term, you will need to submit a course copy request form prior to August 15th .
The course copy request form should also be used if you need to copy content from a Blackboard course for use in Moodle Spring 08 (for instance, if the course is only taught every Spring). Fall 07 requests take priority and so these will be done as time permits.
As of June 30, all Summer 06, Fall 06, and Spring 07 Blackboard courses will have been converted to Moodle 1.5 by the Courseware Development Center (CDC) staff. If you have Blackboard courses prior to Summer 2006 that you would like to have converted you will have to specifically request the CDC staff to convert these courses by sending an email to mdlsos@humboldt.edu (you must include the CRN, semester and year in order for us to locate the backup).
Background
All courses hosted in the Blackboard learning management systems will now be hosted in Moodle. This decision was arrived at through a nine month formal evaluation process by the Learning Management Steering (LMS) Committee. The committee unanimously recommended that Humboldt State University adopt Moodle as the campus standard LMS and discontinue the current Blackboard LMS license when it expires on June 30, 2007. For more information on the LMS steering committee process and recommendations please see: http://www.humboldt.edu/~cdc/lms/
Moodle Assistance for Faculty Available
In order to continue to assist faculty in their preparation for Fall 07 semester courses hosted in the LMS, the CDC staff are offering a variety of workshops in the Faculty Technology Solutions Center (FTSC) in Room 1 in the basement of Siemens Hall. These workshops include an “Introduction to Moodle”, “Intermediate Moodle”, and “Moodle1.8 – An Overview of the new Version”. There are eleven workshops scheduled over the summer, and an additional fourteen workshops scheduled during the last two weeks of August. There will be additional workshops offered throughout the fall semester. For details on these workshops and others, please see the Faculty Technology Solution Center workshop registration page at: http://www.humboldt.edu/~training/
