Based upon the recommendation of the HSU Learning Management Systems (LMS) Steering Committee and the unanimous recommendation of the Provost's Council on February 21, 2007, Moodle will be the campus standard Learning Management System effective starting the Summer term on May 29, 2007. Consequently, the current Blackboard license will not be renewed when it expires on June 30, 2007.
The LMS steering committee has also recommended that a process to convert all Blackboard courses Moodle be instantiated immediately. For more information on the LMS steering committee process and recommendations please see: Learning Management Systems Steering Committee Regarding the Blackboard to Moodle Course conversion the Courseware Development Center (CDC) has prepared the following plan;
- Introduction to Moodle trainings are currently being offered, for details please see the Faculty Technology Solution Center Trainings.
- All Fall 2006, Summer 2006, and Spring 2007 courses will be converted by May 15th by the CDC staff without a need for you to submit a request.
- If you have Blackboard courses prior to Summer 2006 that you would like to have converted you will have to specifically request the CDC staff to convert these courses; all courses from Fall 2006 and later will be automatically converted without any action on your part. To request course conversion for courses older than Summer 2006 you may do so by sending an email to mdlsos@humboldt.edu please include the Course number and term the course was taught.
Please note that once our Blackboard license terminates we will have the ability to convert your course's content, but NOT the layout or presentation of the course. In order to ensure your course's layout is converted we need to receive your request by June 5th, 2007. If you would like your Blackboard course available in Moodle prior to the dates above please send an email to mdlsos@humboldt.edu informing us of which Blackboard course you would like converted, and when you need it available.
