I have performed all aspects of digital map creation, including GPS field data collection, base map acquisition, georeferencing of aerial photography, and full size map production. Here are some examples of my work:

Georeferencing Film Aerial Photography with Ground Control Points
Because mapping projects in the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Sanctuary were drawn on aerial photographs that were a decade old, USFWS comissioned new aerial flyovers. To align the new photos, I utilized ArcView and ERDAS Image Analyst to georeference scanned aerial photos after having recorded GPS locations for thousands of ground features with a Trimble GPS unit.
Warner Valley Weeds 2003 Warner Valley Weeds 2003
This map is part of a weed-tracking GIS I created for Lassen Volcanic National Park, showing standard topographic features such as contours, streams, roads, and trails in addition to the highlighted weed infestations.

I was also able to update the old preserve trail map to reflect the newly georeferenced aerial photography. We then mapped the trail system using a Trimble GeoExplorer to create the colored trail lines. The color portion of the map shows the USFWS parcels versus private property in black and white.
Warner Valley Weeds 2003: Western Detail Warner Valley Weeds 2003: Western Detail
Here, the more detailed map displays and names individual weed infestations so that they can be easily relocated.
Layia carnosa study plots map
Layia carnosa Study Plots Map
I created this map to show the location of demographic research plots tracking a population of Beach Layia on the coastal dunes of Northern California. With this research, I found that seedling density and topographic position on the dune face were correlated with Beach Layia survivorship.
Alpine Lakes Surveyed August 2003 Alpine Lakes Surveyed August 2003
As part of a rare plant survey report, this map displays a list of lakes that had been surveyed. I created it with ArcView through a simple combination of basemap layers and an extra field in the lake feature table to assign a color to the survey status.
