Petrography is the study of rocks with a focus on the use of the petrographic microscope as a tool to identify and interpret the three major rock types, igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.
This course focuses on the description, classification, and interpretation of rocks. We will use the skills aquired in mineralogy to identify minerals macroscopically and microscopically to describe and interpret igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.
