Information for Prospective Graduate Students

Please Note: I am moving to the Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in August of 2008. You will be able to contact me there after that time.

I am interested in serving as advisor for graduate students wishing to pursue research in evolution, biogeography, ecology and conservation genetics. The main taxonomic focus of my research is mammals. Potential students should have a strong interest in systematics, biogeography and/or conservation and some prior experience in ecological or evolutionary research at the undergraduate level. Much of my research combines field studies, scientific collecting of small mammals, molecular genetics and phylogenetic analysis. Experience in these areas is a plus.

Graduate students working in my lab are expected to perform original research and to publish their results in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals. Before applying, you should first contact me directly to discuss research interests and whether or not I am currently accepting students.
