Internship Peer Advisor Profiles

Lucia: LuciaHello, my name is Lucia Garcia. I studied abroad last year in Spain and am a senior double majoring in Women Studies and Ethnic Studies with a Multicultural Queer Studies minor. I have interned at the RAVEN Project in Eureka and for a non-profit organization in L.A. called Break the Cycle. I want to travel the world working with local grassroots organizations and learning and giving as much as I can. I love working with students to help them find an experience/internship doing things they are passionate about.

AnondahAlexsandra: Hello! My name is Alexsandra Chavez. This is my second year attending Humboldt. I am currently a Biology major, but I’m having second thoughts on my major after my  volunteer experience in the field. This summer I had an internship with the Small Business Development Center located in Fresno. My internship and volunteer experiences have made a huge impact on deciding what I want to do with my life. Hopefully throughout this year I can help you find what you’re looking for!

Jessica: HumbertoHello! My name is Jessica Kirby and I am a junior transfer student attending Humboldt State University as a Liberal Studies Elementary Education Major with an Emphasis in History. For five years I’ve been involved in co-developing an association called Peace Camp that takes place every year in Orange County, CA. My career related experience helped me root the idea of becoming a teacher. I enjoy working with people of all ages and truly believe that we can all learn from each other. In my free time I enjoy doing arts and crafts. I look forward to meeting you and encourage anyone interested in an internship to make an appt. with an internship peer advisor.

Chisana: HumbertoWelcome to the IPA website!  My name is Chisana White and this is my third year at Humboldt.  I am a Social Work major, and I am also pursuing two minors, in Music and Theatre Arts.  The thought of working as an IPA myself, came about last spring when I was assisted by a current IPA, helping me to properly display my qualifications for the summer job I wanted.  As an outcome of my work with an IPA, I was hired at one of the Boys and Girls Clubs in northern Idaho.  The knowledge I gained from this career-related experience was everything I could have asked for and more.  If you are someone who is searching for some great career and life experiences, I would be happy to help you with your journey!

Mary Sue: HumbertoHello! My name is Mary Sue Savage. This is my second year at HSU and I am a Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies major. This summer, I am interning for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in their International Grassroots Campaigns Department. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to work on different campaigns and learn more about issues that I feel passionate about. I am really looking forward to helping students find internships in their area of interest and I encourage everyone to check out the Career Center or make an appointment with an internship peer advisor. I look forward to meeting you!
