ENVS 480 ORGANIC GARDENING

Starts the first week of Fall Semester '09 (8 weeks, 2 hours a week) Limit 10 students. This internship will involve learning hands-on the science of small scale food production without the use of chemicals. Facilitated by CCAT gardeners, interns will research, study, work with soil preparation, plant propagation, garden planning, composting, crop rotations, and more.

ENVS 480 HERBALISM

Starts the first week of Fall Semester '09 (8 weeks, 2 hours a week) Limit 10 students. This internship will study the use of herbs as medicine, and explore the science of cultivating, drying, and using herbs as well as creating herbal remedies. Interns will apply knowledge while exploring CCAT's herb gardens, propagating, identifying, and harvesting herbs on a seasonal basis.

ENGR 280 CCAT GREEN CONSTRUCTION

(8 weeks, 2 hours a week) Limit 8 students. This class will provide students with hands-on experience, exploring the design and construction possibilities for the new CCAT facility and grounds. Students will learn about green and alternative building materials and methods.

ENGR 280 SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES

(8 weeks, 2 hours a week) Limit 20 students. This eight-week field site series will feature tours of a range of technologies and their applications in the community. Potential topics include green building, community agriculture, gray water systems, alternative energy, biodiesel as a fuel, and more.
