Our collective bargaining agreement (CBA) provides a grievance procedure that assures the right to due process for matters involving interpretation of or violations of its articles. Article 10 of the CBA outlines your rights and the procedures that have been designed to protect them.
CFA is obligated under our CBA to provide representation to faculty during the grievance process if requested to do so. CFA will vigorously enforce and defend faculty rights.

How to Process a Grievance
Although unit 3 employees may file grievances on their own with or without representation, the CFA is obligated to represent each faculty unit employee if requested. We encourage faculty unit employees to work with a member of the grievance committee on each grievance. The following instructions outline the initial steps of the grievance process.
If you believe you have been directly wronged in connection with your job, please contact a member of the Faculty Rights Committee as listed above. Our contract requires us to file any grievances within 42 days
of the event precipitating the grievance (or within 42 days of the date at which you knew or should have reasonably known of the event precipitating the grievance).
A form (that you may obtain by contacting any member of the Faculty Rights Committee listed above) outlining your complaint, and any supporting documantation must be filed in the President's Office. Your CFA representative will assist you with this. Five copies are needed. The President's Office will date stamp all five copies, but only keep one. The second copy is for you; one is for the Humboldt Chapter of CFA (your representative's copy); one is for the Chancellor's Office; and one is for Statewide CFA. The President's Office will date stamp your copy proving that you filed the grievance in a timely manner. Hand delivery to the President's Office and certified mail delivery to the CSU and Statewide CFA are important to establish date of filing.
