Program of Study
The
certificate program consists of five courses for at least 12 units of
graduate academic credit. Entering the program requires formal
admission to the university as a graduate student plus an
approved
plan
of study and application for certificate of study.
After consulting with your graduate advisor and under the advisement of
the College Faculty Preparation Program Coordinator, each student
develops a plan of study that can be tailored to meet his/her specific
timelines and professional goals. The CFPP Coordinator and the Dean for
Research and Graduate Studies must approve each student’s plan of
study. Notation of certificate completion will appear on your official
university transcript. The plan of study must include each of the
following four components:
1. Discipline-specific teaching methods.
After consulting with your graduate advisor, select one or more
graduate pedagogy courses/mentored experiences taught by the
appropriate academic department.
This first component introduces
students to undergraduate teaching through a practical presentation of
the processes and issues involved in classroom or laboratory
instruction. See table below.
