National Geographic Field Trip - Grant Grove, Sequoia Nation Park
By Virginia Rodriquez

Hi my name is Virginia.
I liked it when we went on the field trip.
When we were traveling there, I felt very dizzy.
It was so neat that I forgot about being dizzy.
Mrs. Gamblin took a picture of us.   I want my mom and dad to go back and see how beautiful it is there.

The park ranger was telling us to be like a seed.   I learned that the biggest tree is Sequoia National Park is General Sherman tree.  The seeds to the trees are very, very little.  We were learning about all that is takes for a seed to grow.  We knew a lot of the answers because we had been studying about the forest ecosystem for the field trip.  Seeds need air, water, soil, and time to turn into giant Sequoia trees.  The trees at Sequoia have had lots of time.  The ranger said that if we learn, we could grow like a Sequoia.

In this picture I am using my binoculars.  I am looking at a tree at Grant Grove.   I am being very careful so that when I take a step I don’t even break a stick or even a pinecone.  I would not want to harm anything at Grant Grove so that I can protect the future.   It is so beautiful there.

In this picture we are walking with a ranger learning about many things at Grant Grove.  We went past the time machine tree trunk.  The ranger showed us what a seedling Sequoia tree looks like.  The trip was so much fun.

There was a log where we ate lunch, and we were trying to stay on it. We were almost finished eating our lunch.  We were taking pictures, playing, running jumping, and enjoying nature.

We saw many new things.  We learned many new things.  We have to take care of our environment.
