HUMBOLDT WOMEN IN CHEMISTRY SCHOLARSHIP
for Chemistry Undergraduate Students
The Humboldt Women in Chemistry Scholarship is available to
promote and encourage women interested in chemistry by providing
financial support to promising women students in this field.
Amount of scholarship: The amount of the Humboldt Women
in Chemistry Scholarship is equal to California resident registration
fees for the fall and spring semesters, not to exceed $2,000 for
the 2001/2002 academic year.
Number of scholarships: one per academic year
Qualifications:
- Woman student enrolled full-time and pursuing a bachelor's
degree in chemistry at Humboldt State University,
- Enrolled as an upper division student,
- Enrolled in chemistry courses during the academic year of
the award,
- Academic achievement with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
in courses required for the major, and
- Demonstrates exceptional interest, initiative, motivation,
dedication and professional promise in the field of chemistry.
Restrictions:
- Financial need shall not be a consideration in awarding
the scholarship.
- Restricted to women applicants.
- Restricted to a declared major in Chemistry at Humboldt State
University.
- Restricted to an undergraduate student of junior or senior
standing.
- Selection will be made a committee consisting of two or more
faculty members from and elected by the Department of Chemistry.
- Previous winners may be eligible for a total of two received
awards.
- Scholarship will not be awarded if no candidate meets the
criteria.
- Award of scholarship is contingent upon sufficient funds.
Application process: Applicants should demonstrate their
qualifications by submitting the following:
- Letter of application
- Resume
- Copies of official college transcripts
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty, professionals
in field, work supervisors, etc.
- Personal essay (limited to two pages, single-spaced, typewritten)
addressing personal interest, initiative, motivation, dedication
and professional promise in the field of chemistry.
Deadline: Submit all materials to Department Chair,
Department of Chemistry by March 30, 2001.
