Course Information
I teaching the following courses:
Psychology 241: Introduction to Psychological Statistics: This course covers descriptive and inferential methods for analyzing data. Descriptive statistics, normal distributions, elementary probability, bivariate correlation, and regression, hypothesis tests for comparing means, and chi-square tests. We will make extensive use of the SPSS computer package for data analysis. Syllabus
Psychology 341: Intermediate Statistics. Syllabus. Psych 341 covers correlation, regression, multiple regression (a little), lots of ANOVA designs, and confidence intervals. I strongly recommend this course to any student considering graduate school. Psychology 241, Introductory Statistics is, of course, a prerequisite.
Psychology 441: Advanced Statistics: This course introduces the logic, application, and interpretation of several statistical techniques. We cover multiple regression, data screening, testing of assumptions, factor analysis, logistic regression, the general linear model, and ANCOVA. We use SPSS extensively. Weekly lab sessions introduce procedures and serve as informal homework help sessions. We will do some review of topics – especially core concepts like correlation and hypothesis testing – if you are having trouble recalling these topics you may need to review independently. The fundamental goal of this course is for you to develop the skills to work independently using SPSS to answer research questions.Syllabus
Psychology 480: Psychological Study of Social Issues - An overview of the application of psychological theory and methods to the study of social issues. Topics will include the environmental conservation, activism for social change and policy change, drug abuse prevention, media influences, health care, and much much more. Syllabus
