Human Capital Management
Project Overview
HSU first migrated the majority of HR, Benefits and Payroll systems to PeopleSoft with version 8.0 in 2003. Now in 2006, this upgrade to version 8.9 will enable us to take advantage of improvements in the existing HR functionality, while implementing new features now available. Self-service functionality for employees to review and update emergency contact information and addresses, review paycheck records and view voluntary medical and dental benefit enrollment are among the improvements planned with this upgrade. HSU plans to realize both improved efficiency and service delivery as a result of our investment of time and resources. The Project Team held their kickoff meeting on March 1, 2006 and anticipates Phase 1 implementation of Core Functionality by May 2007. Additional Phases will continue with an anticipated completion in the fall of 2007.
The HR 8.9 upgrade project is part of a larger initiative that began in 1997 by the Chancellor’s Office. At that time, the Chancellor’s Office initiated the Common Management Systems (CMS) effort to consolidate the management systems of the CSU system and to identify one software package that would effectively support its Human Resources, Financials, and Student systems. Several software solutions were reviewed, and resulted in the selection of PeopleSoft for all three major business systems. The CMS Project today involves coordination of ongoing implementations and upgrades at all 23 of the CSU campuses as well as at the Chancellor’s Office.
