ACP Certification Courses

Lifeguard and CPR Recertification

This is a Lifeguarding and CPR challenge designed to recertify current lifeguards. There is no review of course material. Patron must demonstrate practical skills and complete written test for full certification By appointment only, please call for details.

Price: $35 per certification

 

BLS Health Care Provider

November 14

This six-hour course is the highest level of CPR offered and is designed for first responders and health-care professionals to help care for victims in the event of an emergency. The course covers: recognizing an emergency, legal obligation, preventing disease transmission, working with different breathing barriers for resuscitation, recognition and treatment of respiratory and cardiac emergencies and AED use. Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will receive a certificate in Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider.

Junior SCUBA Summer Camp Seal Team

Session I: June 17 - July 8
Session II: July 15 - August 5
Session III: August 12 - September 2

This four-week PADI SCUBA camp introduces the fundamentals of proper and safe SCUBA diving to youths between the ages of 8-12.

Price: $295 (Price includes DIVE Gear, Seal team manual and towel.)

Days & Times: Wednesdays, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Ages: 8 - 12

 

Heartsaver CPR & AED

November 7

This eight-hour course focuses on the three levels of CPR. The course will cover: recognizing an emergency, preventing disease transmission, and learning to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, children and infants. Instruction on the usage of an AED is also provided. Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will receive certifications in Adult CPR with AED and Child and Infant CPR.

NAUI SCUBA Diver Course

September 30 - November 9

The NAUI SCUBA Diver course is a five week program of instruction in the proper and safe use of open circuit SCUBA equipment and open water diving techniques. Open water dives will be held in either Trinidad or Mendocino depending on conditions at the time. There are equipment requirements for students that will be discussed during the first session. A medical pre-screen form must be completed prior to enrollment and will be reviewed by the instructor one week before the class. This course is challenging and exciting, but due to the mature nature of this class, all participants must be 18 years of age or older. Participants must sign up in person at the Arcata Community Pool. Completion of NAUI Medical form is required one week before class.

Price: $375

Price includes: use of SCUBA unit and weight belt for pool and ocean work, text, plastic dive table and certIfication fees.)

Mondays: 6:00 – 9:00 pm
Wednesdays: 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Lifeguard Certification Course

This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to recognize and eliminate common aquatic hazards, accidents and injuries. Participants must be at least 15 years of age and have excellent swim skills. Includes training and certification in Waterfront Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Class space is limited.

Price: $115 (Price does not include books and pocket mask. These must be purchased prior to class and are available at the American Red Cross.) Makeup classes will be given at a cost of $38 per hour

Heartsaver First Aid

September 20

This six-hour course provides knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive. This course covers: recognizing an emergency and how to deal with sudden illnesses, wounds and injuries to muscles, bones and joints. Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a certificate in First Aid.

Price: $50
