When Portfolios Fail
Updated: 07/08/04

Please return failing portfolios during finals week. Failing portfolios not retrieved by the end of that week must go to Jolien Olsen with a note indicating the student's name, the instructor's name, the CRN and course number, and the current semester and must include the completed scoring guide. Working portfolios are welcome, too.

For English 100I/100 Students: assign a course grade of RP (Report in Progress) on the official grade form, and advise the student to register for English 200. Composition Program policy states that students shall enroll in English 200 for the subsequent semester.

For English 200 Students: assign a course grade of NC (No Credit) on the official grade form, and advise the student that he/she will need to repeat English 200 during the subsequent semester. (Students may now repeat a course without a petition. While each attempt at the course will appear on a transcript, the cumulative GPA will reflect only the most recent grade.)

The English 100I/100 requirement can be fulfilled at another institution; however, the grade the student receives at another institution cannot replace or remove the grade received at HSU.
