Postdoctoral Research Associate: Led the optimization effort of the PRSYM (Power Reservoir Systems Model) software project at the Center for Advanced Decision Support for Water and Environmental Systems (CADSWES). Sped up optimization code by a factor of 40. Developed technical documentation. Facilitated communication of the 21 member PRSYM software team. As part of an interdisciplinary design team, designed and partially implemented the object oriented optimization element of PRYSM. Project funded as a tailored collaboration between the Electric Power Research Institute, the Tennessee Valley Authority and the US Bureau of Reclamation. (1994). This sofware is now RiverWare.

Research Assistant/Dissertation: Developed parallel versions of the optimization algorithm stochastic dynamic programming to find the optimal release policy for 4 hydro-power reservoirs. Achieved excellent speedups in excess of 93% of theoretical speedup using a shared memory architecture. Runs on clustered workstations achieved lower speedups due to different architecture. Partially funded by NSF. (1990-1993)

Research Assistant/M.S. Thesis: "Multivariate Interpolation in Continuous State Binary Control Stochastic Dynamic Programming with Application to Plant Pathogen Control". Assisted plant pathologists on USDA project in the development of an Apple Scab simulation model. Modified weather simulator. Applied stochastic dynamic programming to determine the most economic fungicide spray schedule for controlling the disease. (1987-1990)

Professional Research Assistant: Assisted in the development of a hillslope hydrology simulation model of the Alaskan tundra for Department of Energy project with the Systems Ecology Research Group (SERG). (1986-1987)

Undergraduate Research: Developed diagnostic trigonometry exam for use in conjunction with laser video and computer for interactive video mathematics education. (1984)
