- Current Research Interests:
- Professor Erick Eschker has worked with many undergraduate economics majors on published research. He studies the causes and consequences of public intergenerational redistribution programs such as Social Security and Medicare. These programs are expected to experience large fiscal crises in most developed countries over the next half-century. He also studies worker productivity in the National Basketball Association and the local gasoline and housing markets. He presented his research at the American Medical Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

- Current Research Interests:
- Professor Beth Wilson has focused her research on studying the apartment-rent gradient of Portland, Oregon. Portland provides an interesting case study because it has one of the most restrictive urban growth boundaries (UGB) in the US. Furthermore, Portland has not relaxed their UGB despite the fact that they have experienced a large increase in their population. This has resulted in a significant increase in Portland's population density and much less urban sprawl than in other US cities. Consequently, Portland's rent gradient is more comparable to a European city than a typical medium-sized American city. Urban planners are presently debating the benefits and costs of UGBs, thus this research is both timely and relevant. Wilson has worked with her student, Cynthia Salazar, since October 2002. She presented this research at annual meeting of the American Real Estate Society on April 2-5, 2003 and is currently preparing it for publication.
