Areas of Excellence: The Economics Program offers three Areas of Excellence, which are defined to be groups of related courses of distinction. While Areas of Excellence do not appear on HSU diplomas or transcripts, they are recognized by the Economics Program, and they offer guidance to students when selecting upper-division economics courses for their minor. Students are not required to take an Area of Excellence. Areas of Excellence can also be used by Interdisciplinary Studies majors who are taking a field in Economics. The Areas of Excellence are:
Environmental Economics and Development: Econ 306, Econ 309, and Econ 423.
Globalization: Econ 306, Econ 309, and BA 410.
Business: Econ 310, Econ 435, Econ 459, and BA 410
