About the Center

The Center for Educational Excellence, Collaboration & Inquiry was initially chartered in October 2000 as the Center for Educational Renewal. Although the original name has been changed to provide increased clarity about its mission and focus, it still purposes to promote "simultaneous renewal" or the concept that educators from both the schools and the university need to work collaboratively and collegially to improve education P-16 and beyond.

Mission Statement

To exemplify educational excellence through collaboration and educational inquiry that enhances the university's ability to support professional practice and student learning at all levels in the North Coast region.

The Director

Cathleen RaffertyCathleen Rafferty has served as the Center's director since its inception in Fall of 2000. A former middle grades Reading/English/Language Arts and Social Studies teacher and coach, Cathleen brings more than a decade's worth of experience with school-university collaboration and collaborative inquiry.

Steering Committee

Meets face-to face 1-2 times per semester, sometimes including a joint meeting with a larger Advisory Board. Additionally, this group regularly communicates via e-mail for ongoing dialogue, input, and feedback to the Center's Director.
