Department of Education

Kristin Mack

SED Coordinator's Assistant

Background

Kristin Mack is the administrative assistant for both the Secondary and Elementary Education Programs. She joined the staff at the School of Education in August 2008 shortly after moving to Arcata. While not a teacher herself, Kristin comes from a family of teachers and previously enjoyed directing plays at a high school in her home state of Washington.

Professional Interests

The arts have always interested Kristin, and she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film Production from Chapman University in Orange, CA where she specialized in writing and directing. She comes from a professional film and television background and uses her knowledge of camera and audio equipment to assist with the department's video recording needs. Currently, Kristin is also a graduate student in HSU’s Department of Theatre, Film, and Dance, working on completing an MA in Theatre Arts, and she is also involved with the university’s annual Ten Minute Play Festival.

Outside Interests

When not at the School of Education or in the theatre, Kristin can be found out at the stable working with her 2-year-old rescue horse, Freya. As a life-long horsewoman and firm believer of animal rights, Kristin saved Freya from slaughter in December ’08 and is currently training her for trail riding.
