Humboldt State University is
perched on Preston Hill overlooking Arcata, Arcata Bay, and the Pacific
Ocean. Our north latitude is 40 degrees 52 minutes 30 seconds, and our
west longitude is 124 degrees 4 minutes 0 seconds. Arcata is
nestled in the redwoods region of California's north coast in Humboldt county,
approximately 275 miles north of San Francisco. Our local climate
is mild year-round, with a distinct rainy season from November
through March,
and varying degrees of sun and fog in the remainder of the year. Campus
visitors
will find many outdoor recreational opportunities at the area's beaches,
