In this course, you will learn how to make common-sense decisions to better protect yourself and your possessions. Learn how to become more safe at home, while shopping, or while traveling.
Find out how to identify high-crime areas and learn techniques to minimize your exposure in these locations to enhance your safety.
Discuss the routine activity theory of criminology and discover how potential thieves or assailants find their targets.
The ultimate goal is to learn how NOT to present yourselves as potential targets to criminals!
Fees generated by this workshop will go to the OLLI Scholarship Fund.

Dick Wild is a retired parole agent supervisor who has also worked as special agent for the FBI. He has worked at San Quentin and in various locations including Washington D.C., Denver, Colorado, San Francisco, California and the North Coast. Dick has also been a guest lecturer at Humboldt State University teaching criminology and legal and criminal psychology.
New! OLLI Special Interest Groups (SIGS) provide low or no cost opportunities for members to explore and share their passions with each other. SIGS are affiliated and approved by the OLLI curriculum committee, but are member-developed and led. OLLIs in other areas have offered such topics as hiking, bridge, New Yorker magazine discussions and fiber arts. If you’d like to share your interests with a new and lively group, call 826-3743.
