If you, or your family, have exceptional special circumstances not taken into account in the student aid eligibility analysis, please review the following information and form about this process.

Cost of Attendance Budget Adjustments

Financial aid is intended to cover basic costs of attendance and living. You are encouraged to plan and budget your aid and resources to stay within the standard cost of attendance. However, the need may arise to seek additional resources to cover specific educationally related costs. Such adjustments are generally funded through student loans, assuming you have remaining loan eligibility. To determine the possibility of an adjustment to your budget, please plan to meet with a Financial Aid Counselor.

Dependency Override Petition: Consideration as Independent by Exception

In very exceptional, or extraordinary, cases the Financial Aid Office will consider overriding a student’s dependency status. Independence of parental support is not considered an unusual circumstance. Neither is reluctance or unwillingness on the student’s part to request parental information, or on the parent’s part to provide, considered an unusual circumstance for purposes of this review. Approved dependency overrides are NOT transferable to other colleges; the applicant must make a separate request to any new institution. For additional information and requirements please refer to the form below for the appropriate aid year.
