A reminder that there will be a Navigation training for PS Finance this Wednesday June 29, from 9:00-11:00 in the CMS lab, GH211c. This training is primarily intended as a basic orientation for new users, and is required for inquiry access; but existing users are also welcome to attend, and spread the word to any in their departments who need access. New users seeking access must pre-register for the class; existing users may simply drop in.

Per your suggestions in the June 8th Acct Mgmt training, we’ve updated the Contacts page (http://www.humboldt.edu/~fiscal/topics/psfin/contacts.html) on the Fiscal Web site to be current, and to include phone numbers for all individuals. Individual email addresses remain available via the Where/Email column: clicking on the link there will take you to the appropriate department page, where you can find the individual’s email address in the Staff table.
Payroll for May 2005 has been posted in PS Finance, FY 2004 period 11. This includes both the normal pay distribution (journal HR00004048, accounting date 5/31/05) and adjustments (journal HR00004049, accounting date 5/15/05). For your information, the adjustment journal was first incorrectly posted to April, then reversed and reposted to May, so you may notice this in-and-out activity appearing in your April HUMGL015 transaction report if run now. There is no net impact on April.
The May accounting period is still open, as some other accounting entries are still outstanding. In particular, we are working to get the trust interest allocation for July-April posted in May.
A reminder that there will be an Analysis Tools training for PS Finance this Wednesday, June 22, from 9:00-11:00 in HGH 225. No registration is required. The training will cover the use of Excel pivot tables to analyze Finance transaction query results, and other advanced topics as time and interest dictate.

Beginning June 17, Purchasing will be going through the process of closing purchase orders and disencumbering remaining balances for purchase orders that have had no activity in more than ninety days from the purchase order date. Initially purchase orders with a date July 1, 2004 to March 17, 2005 will be subject to closure. The process will then be run daily until year end. This is being done to free up funds that will become available to roll forward to next year.
There is a new query that departments can run to see information on their open orders. It is called HUM_AAA_PO_DEPT_OPEN_ENC.
Departments should notify Joyce Baltierra at jlb7002@humboldt.edu if they have purchase orders that need to stay open.

CMS continues to experience performance problems today, with the availability of all databases fluctuating. CMS Central continues to be aware of the problem, which is systemwide, but I have no information on cause or anticipated resolution. In such circumstances the only practical response for endusers is to wait and see, and try try again.
