PS Finance intro training status

Monday, December 5th, 2005

We now have more enrollees than laptops for the PS Finance inquiry training sessions Dec 12-13. In this situation, as in previous
trainings, I will give priority for laptop use to new users who are learning for the first time; existing users who have already trained
are still welcome to attend, but may need to audit without a laptop. (Many users find that it’s more effective to simply watch
the proceedings, anyway, rather than attempting to duplicate the operations for themselves.) In the unlikely event of insoluble
disagreement over which existing users can have any remaining laptops, I’ll allocate them in the order users contacted me.

I still encourage anyone who is interested in attending to do so, and let me know if you haven’t already notified me, as we probably
haven’t yet exceeded the overall seating capacity of the room, and there may be no-shows.

Things will also go more smoothly if everyone knows their userid and password before arriving in class. So, I ask any existing user who plans to attend and might be logging in to make sure they know their userid and password and can log in successfully beforehand. I’ll also attempt to distribute new userids and passwords individually this week, ahead of the class.

Anyone who has any question about their status for the training, or their login, can feel free to contact me.

Accounting has announced that July 2005 (FY 2005, Accounting Period 1) is officially closed; no more entries will be made to that period, so it is now stable for reporting purposes.

PS Finance inquiry training

Friday, December 2nd, 2005

As you may have seen in this morning’s bulk mail, we have scheduled an introductory training sequence for PS Finance inquiry:

  • Navigation, Mon Dec 12 1:30-3:30 pm GH211c
  • Account Management, Tue Dec 13 9:00-11:00 am GH211c

These classes are intended for new users, but anyone who wishes may attend, and we also encourage you to spread the word to colleagues who may be wanting access and training. Registration is not required for existing users, but I would appreciate hearing ahead of time from anyone who is planning to attend so we can manage space.
