Water Quality
The laboratory facility provides a variety of instruments and equipment necessary
to perform water quality research. The laboratory houses limnological equipment
such as SCT meters, dissolved oxygen meters, pH meters and turbidometers.
Secchi disk, drift and plankton nets, and dredges are also included. In addition,
incubators, water bath, autoclave, chemical and microbial hoods (Class II),
ovens, microscopes, media and chemical supplies, and scales are also housed.
Biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand and total Keljdahl nitrogen
test capabilities using bioreactor and digestal equipment are in current
use. The wastewater aquaculture laboratory, located in the Arcata wastewater
Aquaculture facility, houses several meters, microscopes, aquaria, heaters,
and HOBO temps which are available for research.
