Certificates of Study

Certificates of study are programs designed to prepare students in a specialized area of natural resources. Two certificates of study are administered by the Department.

Geographic Information Systems & Remote Sensing

This certificate is a post-baccalaureate program cooperatively administered by the departments of Computing Science, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, and Forestry and Wildland Resources. The goal of the program is to prepare students to apply the technologies of GIS and multispectral remote sensing, including digital image processing, to various disciplines. The program provides students an opportunity to focus and document training in GIS, remote sensing, and related spatial analysis technologies. Course themes include:

Wildland Fire Management

This certificate is designed for those wishing to enhance or upgrade knowledge and skills in managing wildland fuels, prescribed fire, fire suppression, and fire ecology. Students can supplement previously taken college courses to help qualify for employment with various agencies and companies that manage wildlands. Course themes include:
