is a trails coordinator for the Homer Soil and Water
Conservation District in Alaska. She works on
projects across the Kenai Peninsula to protect water
and soil quality and increase community awareness.
KATHY DICKER ('07) traveled throughout Southeast Asia after graduating in 2007. She started a masters program at San Francisco State University.
JENNY NOVAK ('07) worked for HSU's sponsored program foundation on a project with the small business development center for one year. She is now seeking her
Ph.D in geography at the University of Southern California.
DANIEL STAUNING ('07) is
working as an assistant physical science tech for
the National Park Service Inventory & Monitoring
program. He works for the Sonoran Desert Network
based in Tucson. The goal of the I&M program is to
conduct long term ecological monitoring of park
resources.
HARRISON FORRESTER ('07) is working in a hydrology field position at Yosemite National Park.
BRANDON WILLIAMS ('07)
is a transportation planner for Caltrans in Eureka.
He produces maps, does GIS analysis, maintains a GIS
based travel demand model and more.
ANDREW GEORGE ('06)
lives near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
TREVOR HAWKES ('06) is working as an information services specialist for iwater, certified water district specialists in Irvine, CA.
LEIF MORTENSON ('06) is seeking a master's degree in Forest Sciences at Oregon State focusing on a GIS/ecology project he worked on in the Sierras.
AMY AVERY-GRUBEL ('06) is attending graduate school at Pennsylvania State University working on a masters in geography education.
MIA ANASTASIO ('06) is working for the California Teacher's Association in Santa Rosa.
MORGAN CRANE ('06) was a Safari Guide Driver on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska during the summer
after graduation. She is now the marketing director
at Marimba One in Arcata.
JO ERIKSON ('06)
works as a researcher, geography competitions, at
the National Geographic Society.
MELISSA HESSNEY ('06) is
the assistant manager at Six Mile Creek Vineyard in
Ithaca, NY.
CASSANDRA HANSEN ('06) is attending graduate school at the University of Nevada Reno working on a masters in geography. She and fellow
alumnus Spencer Adkisson were married in summer 2008.
KEVIN MCMANIGAL ('06) works as a GIS Specialist/Cartographer at Adventure Cycling Association in Missoula, Montana.
He will begin the masters program in geography at
the University of Montana in fall 2009.
JEN CORDARO ('06)
earned a master's degree from the University of New Hampshire
in International Human Rights Advocacy and
Non-profit Management.
She is
the Community Organizer of Burmese
Refugees in San Diego, funded through the California
Endowment but staffed through the Alliance for
African Assistance. She also volunteers for the
Rescue Foundation in Mumbai, India and the DEPDC in
Mae Sai, Thailand. Both of these organizations work
with the trafficking of persons for sexual purposes
and focus on children and young women.
DEREK HILSON ('06) is working as a Training and Support Specialist for Redwood Community Action Agency Straight Up AmeriCorps in Eureka.
JILL BECKMAN ('06) is working as a biological science tech at Lava Beds National Monument this summer (2008) after spending eight months teaching English in Korea.
AQUILA FLOWER ('05) is completing her master's of science degree in Geography at the University of Victoria. Her research has focused on using tree-rings to reconstruct past climatic variability in the northern Canadian Rocky Mountains. She works at the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium as a Forest Impacts Researcher.
SEAN CANTON ('05) is the web director for the Libertarian presidential campaign (www.resetamerica.com) and working with an emergency response organization to provide GIS mapping for landslides, forest fires, etc.
JASON POLLARD ('05) is working as a Visitor Services Information Assistant for the USDA Forest Service in the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.
ROCHELLE HALL ('05) is working as an Assistant Environmental Planner at the City of Sacramento. She is also working towards a Green Building and Sustainable Design Certificate at UC Davis.
PETE NEUGEBAUER ('05) is working for the Bureau of Reclamation in Carson City, NV, following a year with the BLM in Lakewood, CO. He is working on negotiating water and grazing rights, land transfers, right of ways and easements.
ELIZABETH 'LIZO' MEYER ('05) is working for the Bureau of Land Management as a Biological Science Technician.
STACEY ELLIS ('05) is
working towards her masters degree at UC Davis and
also plans to pursue her Ph.D. with the goal of
becoming a professor.
CARRIE HOFER ('05) is a Scientist for Blasland, Bouck & Lee Environmental Services on the Ecological Risk Assessment team in San Jose.
ROSS NOLAN ('05) served two years in the Peace Corps in Ukraine. He spent time traveling in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Indonesia.
KAITLIN YARNALL ('05) is working as a cartographer for the National Geographic Society. She is also attending graduate school at George Washington University.

Japan at Travel Vision, a company that wholesales airplane tickets
to travel agencies.
LAURA DELMAN ('04) is working for the San Joaquin Valley Pollution Control District in Fresno as an Air Quality Specialist. She also worked for the National Park Service in Sequoia-Kings Canyon Parks.
JOSH BROOKSHIRE ('04) is working as a recreation technician in Lake City, Colorado.

ranger for Redwood National Park.
SEBASTIAN ARAYA ('03) graduated with his masters degree from the University of Colorado in May 2005. He is working for Stillwater Sciences in Berkeley as a GIS analyst.
MARY BROOKS ('03) worked for several years as a cartographer and is currently obtaining her single subject teaching credential in Social Studies at CSU Fresno. She is student teaching at Clovis Unified.
KOURTNIE HARRIS ('03) is seeking her
masters degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Colorado.
NICOLE LOSCH ('03) is a Bicycle, Pedestrian and Environmental Planner for the City of Burlington, VT.
AMANDA WATTY ('03) works as an assistant
city planner for the City of Bend, Oregon, planning department.
JULIA UHLENDORF ('03) works for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association as a Navigation Response Associate in San Diego.

KOA LAVERY ('03) worked as a wetlands surveyor and cartographer. He is returning to Humboldt to pursue a master's degree in Fall 07.
LISA BAUGHN ('02) is seeking her masters degree from CSU Northridge. She was named a Fulbright Scholar and spent 10 months in Indonesia (Aug 06) working as an English language teacher. She was awarded a summer research internship at Harvard University's Center for Middle Eastern Studies for summer 2008. She plans to pursue a Ph.D.

JENNIFER DOUGLASS ('02) opened a sushi restaurant called RAIN in Seattle in November 2004.
SHANNON CRAM ('02) is a graduate student in geography at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
NATHANIEL KELSO ('02) works as a cartographer for the Washington Post. He worked for several years at the National Geographic Society.
VERENA KELLNER ('02) works for David Evans & Associates in Portland, with a small hydrographic team. She worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association as a Hydrographic Survey Assistant Technician on a ship named the "Fairweather" off the coast of South East Alaska for several years.
KEVIN GREER ('02) is working for White Water Voyages on the Kern River as a guide.
STEPHANIE POOL ('02)
is a fourth grade teacher in East Oakland.
TATIANA AHLSTRAND ('01) completed a masters degree in geography at Chico State. She has now returned to Humboldt County and is a Transportation Planner for Caltrans.
DOUG MORTON ('01)
is a transportation planner for the Northeastern
Vermont Development Association. He also worked as a
GIS tech at MicroDataGIS. He lives in St. Johnsbury,
Vermont with his wife and three children.
