• 4 questions on igneous rocks & volcanos (including relations to plate tectonics)
• 1 question on metamorphic rocks & metamorphism
• 1 question on depositional environment
• 1 question on folding & faulting
• 4 questions on earthquakes & seismology
• 4 questions will be interpretation of slides (including rock origin, folding/faulting, volcanism)
• some questions may involve interpretation of maps, sketches, graphs, or cross-sections of an outcrop or of physical features (e.g. depositional environment, nature of metamorphism -- type, parent material, plate-tectonic setting)

4. my emphasis is on:

1. understanding & using concepts, principles
2. reasoning & synthesizing ideas, NOT rote memorization & repetition of terms and facts
3. logical thinking, analysis, & figuring things out
