Geology 551 Excel Macros & Templates for
Hillslope Processes
These hydrologic macros and spreadsheet templates require Excel
5.0 or later. Documentation is in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
You will need the Adobe Acrobat reader or browser plug-in to view
them. You can obtain it for free from this link: Acrobat
Reader.
Note: if these do not automatically start downloading when
you click on the link, it is due to a misconfiguration of your
browser (i.e., it's not set to save Excel files to disk). If you run
into this problem, click on the link, hold the mouse button down
(right button on a PC), and choose "Save this link as..." in Netscape
or "Save target as.." in MS Explorer. Some of the files have names
longer than eight characters. If you are running Windows 95 or
earlier, you will need to download these using the "save as"
procedure above and rename the file to something 8 characters or
shorter, not including the three-letter extension (e.g. .xls or
.xlm)
- Slices
- Macro to compute factor of safety for a landslide with
circular failure arc using Fellenius and Bishop Simplified
methods.
-
- Instructions
for Slices
- Textfile with instructions for using Slices.
-
- Slide
survey template
- Template for reducing level survey data where tape has been
laid along ground surface.
-
- Slide
survey example
- Worksheet showing use of the slide survey template.
-
- Lab 8 Excel template for calculating discharges and saturated XS area
- Excel worksheet -- lacking computational formulas -- for Lab 8. I have
left in the spreadsheet 1) given values of fraction of drainage area, hydraulic
conductivity, cohesion, and angle of internal friction, and 2) formulas
that copy data which, once computed for XS1, stays the same for all cross
sections. Until the values are computed for XS1, these formulas will show
0 for all the other cross-sections.
