Maps on this site are primarily in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. You will need the Adobe Acrobat reader or browser plug-in to view them. You can obtain it for free from this link: Acrobat Reader. Some maps are also available in GIF format which will display in your browser, but which are not as good for printing.
Datasets are either Excel 5.0 spreadsheets or tab-delimited ASCII textfiles. The Excel files require Excel 5.0 or later; the textfiles can be read by nearly any program. Before you use any datafiles, look at the column headers to see what data is in each column. Some programs or macros may require that the column headers be removed before importing the file.
