The CSU offers two kinds of international opportunities for its faculty members: Resident Directorships and Wang Faculty Stipends. The deadline for application is December 1, 2008.

 

1. RESIDENT DIRECTOR OPPORTUNITIES IN 2009-10:

Each year the CSU International Programs recruits faculty to serve as Resident Directors (RDs) in a number of its study abroad programs. These positions represent one of the best chances within the CSU to work and live for an academic year in foreign countries. The IP is seeking applications for the following countries in 2009-10: China, France, Italy, Japan, or Mexico.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

·         Tenured or tenure track faculty in a full-time teaching or administrative position (FERP faculty are not eligible);

·         Appropriate terminal degree for the candidate's discipline;

·         Appropriate overseas experience;

·         Appropriate foreign language skills;

·         B/CLAD experience for the Mexico position.

What Are the Criteria for Selecting an RD?

·         Time and recency of experience in the host country, particularly in higher education;

·         Involvement in and active commitment to international education;

·         Demonstration of a genuine interest in and concern for students;

·         Experience in administration and finance. These are not teaching positions.

·         Personality traits such as initiative, resourcefulness, and diplomacy.

2. THE WANG FAMILY FACULTY STIPENDS

The faculty component of The Wang Family Scholarship will provide four ten thousand dollar ($10,000) stipends to be awarded annually. The stipends are to be used for research or teaching at one of the four designated host universities in China or the Republic of China (Taiwan).
