Get help on your Proposals!

Proposals Due November 6th!

Summer Projects completed!

Keep your eye open for touchless, filtered water bottle refill stations in the Depot and the lobby of SBS near the admissions desk! These are part of the HSU Takes Back the Tap Campaign on campus aimed at reducing disposable water bottle sales! You can do your part to save our oceans from plastic.

As of August 15th, the PV system is up and running atop the Old Music Building!

July 7th marked the completion of the Solar Hot Water units on CCAT!

HEIF is looking for interested students to join the committee as voting members to help determine which projects get funded, propose energy related projects to better our campus and help shape HEIF's future.

HEIF Awarded Projects: Spring '09

4/14: $78,000 to student  energy projects

Project: Relight Redwood Bowl

Team: Green Campus  members - Kale Roberts, Jamila Ghoul, Sarah Schneider

4/14: $6,400 to student  energy projects

Project: HSU: Take back the Tap

Team:  members - Natalynne DeLapp, James Robinson, Gabe Salazar
HEIF funded the project componenets pertaining to video outreach and is pending funding for installation of filtered "Hydration Stations" until addendum items are submitted.



3/10: $6,275 for New Compost Bins around HSU
Further calculations were requested to verify energy savings and the proposal was accepted following this addendum.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Humboldt Energy Independence Fund is to reduce the environmental impact of energy use at Humboldt State University through student driven projects.

Goals of the Fund:

  • The HEIF will achieve its mission through projects that are developed by students and, to the extent possible, implemented, monitored, and maintained with strong student involvement.

  • The HEIF will require accountability by measuring and reporting quantitative and qualitative results, as well as levels of involvement by students and other participants, in all its projects.
  • The HEIF will strive to make its projects derive from and be connected to the curriculum of the university.
  • The HEIF will support dissemination of information about its projects through public outreach and educational activities.
  • The HEIF will seek to publicize accomplishments and experiences associated with its program and projects through a variety of media.
