"When
I think of myself before History Day, I realize that it has helped me in
so many ways. History Day has helped me overcome my shyness and stage fright.
I've learned to follow through with something even as big as the History
Day competition, and work hard to meet deadlines. I have acquired more self
esteem and when times in my life get hard, I have more faith in myself than
ever, when I look back at my accomplishments. My once messy self, has learned
organizational skills as well as memorization. I now know how to do in-depth
research such as interviewing people across the country, and writing letters
of inquiry.
Because of History Day, I've also learned good sportsmanship.
You could never know how much History Day means to me, as well as every other participant, I'm sure. Nor could you ever know how much I appreciate all the free time, long hours, and energy I'm sure you pour into every year, to help kids across the county strive for the excellence you know they have in them.
History Day has been and still is, the best learning experience in my life.
It's even helped me in my decision, as well as practice, for my future career as an actress.

I wish all kids could be as lucky as I am, to participate in such an experience, and I hope History Day will be around long enough for my children and grandchildren to participate in it."
