Humboldt Rugby Enters National Playoffs - Falls Short of Championship
For the third straight year, HRFC earned a place in the Division II USA National Collegiate Rugby Playoffs. The first stop was Oregon where Humboldt defeated Western Oregon 39 - 8 and Santa Rosa JC 39 - 10. This gave the team a spot in the Elite 8 tournament in Florida. Humboldt defeated Georgia Southern 28 - 27 and went on to play against the US Coast Guard Academy. In 2004, Humboldt faced Coast Guard in the Elite 8 tournament and lost 31 - 22. Although the Jacks put up far stiffer defense this year stopping Coast Guard from scoring any tries, Humboldt lost the game with the final score of 6 - 12.
