SUBJECT: Resolution
in Response to Administrative Memorandum VPAA 09-01 (Department of Nursing and
Department of Psychology) 1.) WHEREAS, The Associated Students of Humboldt State University held their annual election in spring 2009 and elected three representatives to the College of Natural Resources and Sciences to the 2009-10 Council with terms starting May 4, 2009; and, 2.) WHEREAS, The University proposed and implemented a change to move the Department of Nursing and the Department of Psychology from the College of Natural Resources and Sciences to the College of Professional Studies and notified the campus of the changes on July 24, 2009 to be made effective on July 31, 2009 in Administrative Memorandum VPAA 09-01; and, 3.) WHEREAS, Two Council
Members; Stephanie Partlow and Nathan Rudberg are Psychology Majors and were
elected and began their terms as representatives of the College of Natural
Resource and Sciences; and, 4.) WHEREAS, the Associated
Students governing documents are silent on the issue of reorganization of
majors within the colleges and its effects on seated members of the Associated
Students Council and the Associated Students Government Code section 2.03
states: The Associated Students Council
shall adjudicate all matters brought before it on behalf of the Associated
Students except as otherwise defined in
this document or the constitution; therefore be it, 5.) RESOLVED, that the Associated
Students of Humboldt State University approve an exemption for Partlow and Rudberg
and allow them to continue serving as representatives for the 6.) RESOLVED, that the exemption
for Partlow and Rudberg be conditional for only the 2009-10 academic year and
if they maintain enrollment within the Psychology Major; and be it further, 7.) RESOLVED, that should a
vacancy occur in either position the newly appointed representative must be
currently enrolled within the 8.) RESOLVED, that this
resolution shall be sent to, HSU President, Dr. Rollin Richmond; Vice President
of Student Affairs, Dr. Steven Butler: Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr.
Robert Snyder; Dean of the College of Professional Studies, Dr. Nancy Hurlbut;
Dean of the College of Natural Resources and Sciences, Dr. James Howard Original Signatures are
on file in the Associated Students Business Office.
