President’s Report

President Richmond reported:

  • that a meeting to discuss the May 2 Tribal Leaders Education Summit was held on April 11; President Richmond will be following up on several items.
  • that he will be summarizing CSU and HSU 07/08 budget information with the President’s Cabinet on April 13; his final HSU budget decisions will be announced during the week of April 16.
  • that he met with student representatives on April 9, where they discussed the proposed IRA fee increase.
  • that his office has received a freedom of information act request. Anna Kircher noted that the CSU is drafting a records retention policy which is anticipated to be completed by 2008.
  • that Ombudsperson, Margaret Kelso, has indicated that she is not available to continue in this capacity for an additional term.
  • that he reviewed the emergency preparedness audit; this item will be reviewed again by the University Executive Committee in October, 2007.

Other Reports

Vice President Butler reported:

  • that the EOP Honors Ceremony is being held today.
  • Spring Preview is occurring this weekend with record numbers attending.
  • the Outstanding Student Awards ceremony will be held on April 23.
  • HSU has a new electric vehicle to assist disabled students.
  • the draft AASCU report, as a result of their recent visit to HSU regarding our Hispanic retention efforts, will be distributed for review.
  • the Sustainable Living, Arts & Music Festival is occurring on April 21.
  • the Women’s Resource Center “Take Back the Night” activities are occurring on April 20.

Jená Burges reported:

  • that the list of HSU Student Outcomes (what all HSU graduates should know and be able to do as a result of their HSU experience), prepared as part of the WASC accreditation process, are complete; a copy was distributed. The committee is beginning their work on the assessment phase.

Vice President Gunsalus reported:

  • that an HSU web site has been developed highlighting Professor Dr. Stephen Sillett, Professor, and Kenneth L. Fisher, Chair in Redwood Forest Ecology at Humboldt State University.
  • the Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony, featuring Kenneth L. Fisher, Michelle D. Kelly, and Wesley Chesbro is scheduled for April 19.

Vice President Coffey reported:

  • that the draft State Funded Capital Outlay Program 2008/09 Priority List (dependent upon the passage of a bond) is available, which he distributed.

Carol Terry reported:

  • that information will be distributed outlining the year-end cut-off dates for purchasing.

Anna Kircher reported:

  • that her area is busy preparing for the upcoming moves, as a result of the completion of the Behavioral and Social Sciences building.
  • that a working group is reviewing HSU’s e-mail and calendaring programs; there will be an opportunity to view various product demonstrations during the Fall Semester.
