President’s Report
President Richmond welcomed Anna Kircher, HSU’s new CIO, Information Technology Services.
He will be discussing the 2006/07 budget reductions with the vice presidents and the budget director, taking the revised enrollment target of 7339 into consideration.
Other reports
University Executive Committee members discussed topics of interest with Anna Kircher:
- increasing number of smart classrooms
- improved customer service to campus community
- increased wireless areas on campus (eventually to become a wireless campus)
- Hyperion and student registration processes should be on separate servers
- resolve staffing issues
- review ad hoc Information Technology Services Advisory Committee
- invitation to attend a Diversity Plan Action Council meeting
- address web compliance/security issues
- work with other areas to address the need for staffing to assist with web site design/placement
- decision on moodle vs. blackboard
- assist in addressing CMS central data warehouse issues in meeting end user needs by providing an effective product
- review Academic Senate resolution on distance education, which will be discussed in early September
- campus construction/renovation projects occurring which will impact ITS
- the need for a comprehensive campus plan for addressing hardware/software upgrades, including a refresh plan
- review of university/college/department IT resources for possible integration
- consideration of voice over internet protocol
